did you purchase a pro package or at least the edit/insert module? The license contained in the mail you get when signing up for free will only activate the create module.

In that case I am not sure what could be causing this issue. Is there a “license#xx” entry in your registry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\PDF Architect 5\Settings ? This is were PDF Architect stores the license information.
