PDFCreator error report generating

PDFCreator 2.5.2.5233 using Win 10
We have over 20 users reporting that when they attempt to print to PDFCreator it will allow them to save the pdf and it opens the pdf into reader. But at the end of the process the error report window opens. There are no crash dump file generated, nor event logs, nothing specific in the pdfcreator.log that gives a good indication of what is causing the issue. Here is the info in the error report:

It is probably a .net or Windows related issue, since the issue showed up first after the release of the Windows 10 May update.

Would you please provide the kb number for the .net patch that is affecting pdfcreator? We would like to be able to query the machine to verify the .net patch is installed. At this time it looks like it is Win 10 build 1709 affected in our environment so far.

What work is being done by pdfordge to determine root cause of the issue described in the hyperlink you referenced?

The words "it seems that this is caused by a bug in the .NET framework" sounds to me like pdforge is guessing it's a .NET bug - they don't really know what is causing the issue, but only guessing it's .NET because "these versions have worked for years without this error".

Please keep in mind, .NET security updates are not the only updates being installed on workstations around the world. There are numerous updates being installed (JRE, .NET, OS, ect.) . Has pdforge reached out to Microsoft for any assistance/direction on this issue?

I understand there is a workaround available by installing a newer version of PDFCreator, but that is not an easy task for my company to do, since there are requirements and processes that must be followed to do a simple upgrade. It would be helpful if pdforge could provide a better level of support by giving more details on what specially they believe is the root cause: which Microsoft KB is causing the issue.

We'd love to be able to provide better/more detailed information, but this is very difficult without being able to reproduce the error here. The first time the error showed up in our error reports was May 6th, so the KB causing it is most likely KB4103718/KB4103731
I can only say most likely as installing the KB alone didn't enforce the error, we tested on multiple machines without being able to reproduce the issue.
I will check out if we have reached out / received any answer from MS yet and update the thread accordingly.

I can confirm that KB4284819 is the source of this issue for us. That cumulative update was pushed out to us last week. I did not have this installed initially on my machine and I was not experiencing the issue. But on Friday, I installed it and now I’m getting the PDFCreator error report.

I can confirm, this error was introduced with .Net 4.7. Net 4.5.2 with latest security patches until Sep. on 2008R2 works like expected.
