this is default Ghostscript behaviour, I don’t know how this was working in the last version, since Ghostscript forbids redistilling password protected files in general. I am afraid there is nothing we can do about this. A possible work around is to first convert the file to an image format and then convert it back to PDF later, but of course this has some downsides to it.

Did Version 2.4 work without Ghostscript ? If so, I could get rid of it and re-install older version.2.4.
Nobody seems to suggest this.
When I de-installed completely version 2.5.1 and/or 2.5 I was unable to delete one hidden folder in ProgramData (PDF Architect 5 Manager) as being shared with another program, but I didn’t find out which one; that folder came with first upgrade to version 2.5.
I never used Architect and de-installed it as soon I saw it was installed by error.

all versions of PDFCreator use Ghostscript, so I really don’t understand how this used to work previously. The leftover PDF Architect component can’t be causing the problem either as this is completely independant from PDFCreator. Maybe some weird bug enabled you to use this previously:9 Or did you perhaps set an owner password earlier but are now facing a user password?

So, Ghostscript is the kernel of PDFCreator.Versions 2.4 and 2.5 seem to work differently: 2.4 uninstall is complete, same with Architect 2.4, and in the context menu of the Windows Explorer I had “convert with PDFCreator” (with icon) which worked in the choosen profile. Uninstall of 2.5 could only be completed in Safe Mode when installed with Architect 2.5, and in the context menu “convert with PDFCreator” was replaced by “about PDFCreator” with icon, without any conversion option; I had to choose the general purpose “open with”, and got the Ghostscript Error with ptotectect files I was the author of. when choosing one of my PDFCreator profiles. I understand that “convert” and “open” are different but don’t understand why. The support don’t mention anything about this.
A work around is to “print” an open protected file (in Adobe Reader) with MS XPS Document Writer; the password is removed.

PDFCreator 2.4. and 2.5 use the same Ghostscript versions.
There is no PDF Architect 2.4/2.5.
The context menu entry “convert with PDFCreator” will look up the “print” or “print to” command registered for the type of file you are trying to convert, while “open with” will open the file in the application you select. Since PDFCreator doesn’t know how to display any files, opening a file with PDFCreator will actually do the same as using the “convert with PDFCreator” context menu entry. We have never seen or heard about a context menu entry “about PDFCreator”, so it is possible that you ran into some rare unexpected problem if you are getting this entry.

it looks like Ghostscript might be failing for a different reason here, please set the logging level to “trace” in the PDFCreator application settings, reproduce the error and send us the resulting log (support(at)pdfforge.org). We will gladly look into this.

Hi,
please have the user set the logging level to “trace” in the debug section of the PDFCreator application settings and print something to reproduce the error, then post the resulting log here or send it to support(at)pdfforge.org. There can be multiple reasons for Ghostscript to fail, like missing permissions or encrypted Postscript files, so I am afraid it will impossible to tell what is wrong without the log.

It seems to be an encoding problem, can you create a new user account using all latin characters and check if this also gets an error? We will also try to reproduce and fix the error on our end.
I am getting the same error message but cannot see anything here which guides me to a solution. My error comes when I try to print one page from a very old version of coreldraw. The drawings have been created on multiple pages in a single file. I have printed several other pages from the file to pdf without problem but when I print one particular page up comes the error. All pages are of similar size, using similar characters and format. I upgraded to version 2.5 - same problem. I tried an alternative PDF printer (Bullzip) - same problem. The only way with that page was to use a more recent version of coreldraw with a convert to PDF option built in.

Hi Jose,
that sounds like there is a general issue preventing PDFCreator from operating properly on your system. Please go to the application settings and set the logging level to “trace”, then start another print job. This will generate a detailed log in %localappdata%\PDFCreator , please send this to support(at)pdfforge.org and we will help you.

Hello Everyone, I ran across this error today and after reading all of these I found a much simpler and easier solution. When printing the docs, make sure you go into the advanced button when selecting the PDF Creator printer and put a check in the Print As Image box. This completely removed this error for me.

thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately, not all 29100 - Internal GhostScript errors are the same and printing as image will only help in some cases, usually if there is an issue with embedding fonts.

I would be very glad if could give us some more information on the buton to put a check. Istill have the problem of error 29100. Robin told-me to send the log fila. I’m very much sorry, but the help suystem isn’t friendly as til now I couldn’t find a way to send the log file.
