In Architect when I attempt to create from scanner, when my scanner is turned 'on', I get an immediate critical error and the program shuts down. (If I try the same with my scanner turned 'off' the program goes through all the process prompts and then correctly gives the error that it cannot communicate with the scanner). Could the problem when scanner is turned 'on' be related to my anti-virus or spam-ware programs? If not any idea's.

this is unusual and I havn’t heared of it before, do you have the latest drivers installed for you scanner(If not, updating could help)? Do you have automatic updates enabled in PDF Architect? I doubt it is related to anti-virus, but to be sure you could try to disable those temporarly to see if it changes anything.
