Bug concerning Unicode characters beyond U+FFFF

The problem I have is that PDFCreator doesn’t write Unicode characters beyond U+FFFF correctly, but displays two rectangles instead.

In my case this affects the following:

1.) Characters for musical notation from Unicode’s MUSICAL NOTATION block starting at U+1D100 on the SUPPLEMENTARY MULTILINGUAL PLANE (SMP) and occasionally

2.) Chinese characters from Unicode blocks on the SUPPLEMENTARY IDEOGRAPHIC PLANE (SIP) starting at U+20000.

Is there an existing solution to this or at least the prospect of one?
Or is there an alternative to PDFCreator that works correctly in this respect?

Hi,

Have you tried using different fonts? Otherwise this can be caused by font substitution, like when Arial gets substituted by Helvetica some fonts are missing.
