Does pdfcreator write XMP metadata (especially thumbnails)?
My WIC codec (Fastpictureviewer) does not seem to detect these.
An XMP validator (http://www.pdflib.com/de/knowledge-base/xmp-metadaten/kostenloser-xmp-validator/) throws an error:
“XMP metadata: Property ‘description’ in predefined XMP schema ‘dc’ for PDF/A has wrong value type (must be ‘alt’)”
Hi,
did you create the PDF as PDF/A?
regards,
Robin
No, I used the default.
I did not find any thumbnail option in default or pdf/A.
I just did a quick test. With pdf/A, there also does not seem to be an XMP thumbnail.
Hi,
I just asked one of our developers and PDFCreator doesn’t write thumbnails, but it does write other metadata like author etc. Do you mean a thumbnail of the PDF itself written into the metadata?
regards,
Robin
Hi,
yes, I would like to have a thumbnail of the PDF itself written into XMP metadata, so that I can have a preview in Windows explorer in thumbs view (with the right WIC codec installed).
Good to know that XMP thumbnails are actually not written by PDFCreator - so I can stop searching for other reasons of not displaying thumbnails…
Are there any plans to add XMP thumbnails in a future version or are there no other requests for it?
Hi,
there haven’t been any requests so far,
but I will still pass the suggestion to the developers.
regards,
Robin
