How do I retain embedded hyperlinks when I use PDFCreator?

PDFCreator uses a printer driver to generate the PDF documents and so it can only handle the information it gets from the application. If word finds a hyperlink it only sends the text to PDFCreator, because there is no printing command for making a hyperlink.

Afaik PDFCreator is able to recognize some hyperlinks like "http://www.pdfforge.org" and translates them into links, but if you have a link with the text "click here" then it can not work.

The only software I know that can handle the links is Adobe Acrobat which installs a plugin into word to create the pdf documents. Every solution that works with printing can not handle hyperlinks, but the advantage is that you can generate PDFs from every program that can print, even self written ones and not only for programs where the author generated a plugin.

PDFCreator doesn't recognize hyperlinks. It is the Adobe Reader. If you have Word- document you can use the free pdf-t-maker in combination with PDFCreator to get real links in your pdf.
