After installing pdfcreator 1.7.2 when I try to print from any application (word/Firefox,…) to the “pdfcreator” virtual printer, the printing is in progress then no other popup windows appear to ask me where to save the pdf file. Same problem when I drag a file to the pdfcreator window.
I installed this version of pdfcreator twice…with the same result. Working on a desktop running windows 8.1. but this works fine on my laptop running windows 8.1. So an environmental condition on my desktop makes it fail.

please check the permissions for PDFCreators spool folder.
(%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Temp\PDFCreator)
Most common reason for this happening is missing writing permissions for this folder.

thanks a lot for your answer. That solved my problem after giving rights to everybody to %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Temp\PDFCreator and %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Temp\PDFCreator\Spool
