I have just upgraded to PDFCreator 1.7.0 and it tells me
PDFCreator now produces PDF/A 2b output
However Adobe Reader, when it encounters a PDF/A file, normally says:
The file claims compliance with the PDF/A standard
but I am not getting this displayed when I open a file generated by PDFCreator 1.7.0. How can I be reassured that my file really is PDF/A?
Hi,
Thanks Robin,
What do you suggest as the best tool available to individuals like me (preferably looking for free tools) to check compatibility with PDF/A for the PDFs I generate?
Given what you said, and assuming there’s no other critical features for me, do you suggest I downgrade to 1.6.2. If so, can I just simply install 1.6.2 across my current product or should I uninstall 1.7.0 first?
I downgraded to 1.6.2 which I had not used previously. The result was a disaster as my PDFs came out blank (zero size with no data). With earlier versions of pdfcreator I never experienced this problem. I reinstalled 1.6.2 several times in case it was a temporary fault but to no avail. Is the blank output a known problem with 1.6.2?
Meanwhile I’ve had no alternative but to go back to 1.7.0.
Hi,
Many thanks again, Robin,
That tip solved the problem with 1.6.2 which now works fine. Any suggestions for a validator for PDF/A documents? I’m thinking especially of where I’ve merge several documents into one and I want to check the resulting file.
