I use PDF Creator on my laptop, but have been unsuccessful getting it to run on my desktop. I'm using PDF Creator 1.2.0 with Windows XP Service Pack 3, and when I try to print to PDF Creator (or just to open it), I get the following message:
Unexpected error, closing.
How can I get it to work?
One cause for this error is trying to open PDFCreate from a limited user login on Win XP. If you can open PDFCreate from an administrator login but not a limited user login, then you have two choices:
1. Login as an administrator or
2. Login in as a limited user and use the RunAs command to open PDFCreate. One way to do this is to right-click on any PDFCreate "shortcut" and select "Run as...". Then select the "The following user:" radio button. Next, select an administrator login from the drop-down list and enter any needed password.
Item 2 is AWKWARD but it works. I have not tried it yet, but I will attempt to re-install PDFCreate and see if they offer an option to run PDFCreate from all users (not just administrator users).
