PDFCreator 1.2.1 released

We are happy to release the maintenance version PDFCreator 1.2.1 today. We have greatly improved the uninstaller. Future updates will not detele the profile/printer mapping during the update.

We have also included a new Tool: Images2PDF. It allows you to quickly convert a list of images into a PDF file. Make sure to test it after the update.

There is the option to opt out of installing the toolbar. You must have missed it.

I can't find an option to NOT install the pdfforge Toolbar.  We used to have that option.

I see the option not to set Yahoo as the default search engine but not one for the toolbar.

Davep,

I looked close at every screen... so not sure how i missed it... Not saying you are wrong just trying to find it.  I saw how to not make Yahoo the default search for the browser but did not see where to turn off the other.

Was it on a screen by itself?  I had an older version of PDFCreator installed.  Could that have prevented the tool bar option from showing?

thanks for the response.

just a quick followup... tried the install on another computer and still did not have an option for not installing the toolbar.

I downloaded the file "PDFCreator-1_2_1_setup.exe" with MD5: 4731b51bf253ef044c47c5525103c278

when I try to install it, I get a virus warning for the file "OCSetupHlp.dll" from nod32 antivirus. i55.tinypic.com/2liyexi.png

OCSetupHlp.dll virus warning

  I have not had any issues with previous installations. Is this a true warning or a false positive?

ok i have tried on 2 computers with several potential installs each but each time it wants to install the toolbar....  so i cancel the install.

i have looked at every install window part of the install wizard but nothing.

Someone please let me know what I am missing or is there a setting that it some how thinks is turned on on my 2 computers.

thanks for you help

Alan

What line do we need to include in our INF setup file to avoid installing the toolbar?   Never mind, fingered it out on my ownsome.

To avoid installing the toolbar, I changed my 1.2.0 INF file from this:

----------------------------------

[Setup]
Lang=english
Dir=C:\\Program Files\\PDFCreator
Group=PDFCreator
NoIcons=1
SetupType=custom
Components=program,ghostscript,helpfiles,helpfiles\\english,languages,languages\\english
Tasks=winexplorer
Printername=PDFCreator
ServerInstallation=0
Win9xPrinterdriver=0
WinNtPrinterdriver=0
Win2k32bitPrinterdriver=0
Win2k64bitPrinterdriver=0

------------------------

to this

See the first checkbox.

As a sidenote, it is extremely annoying when you try to help users here and the author of Pdfcreator has nothing better to do than constantly deleting user accounts!

It is probably the toolbar, nod32 is the only one detecting it:

Just wanted to follow up to my post and to the people that helped me to say thanks.  I was totally over looking that one check box.  I thought it was another general license agreement that would not let it install if not checked.   Some how the language confused me.

thanks to those other users that helped.

I do wish the Authors of the program would be a little more active in the forums.  They don't have to answer every post but there could be some more interaction and acknowledgment of problems even if there is no solution.  I have never gotten some of my problems acknowledged.

thanks again to those that are active here.
