Contrary to PDFCreator 1.2.3 the 1.3.1 process stays resident (as show by the Windows task manager) after anything has been sent to the PDFCreator printer. If I click the PDFCreator icon afterwards nothing will happen. In the earlier version the process was duly terminated after the printing and the PDF print monitor could be called. My system is Windows XP, with SP3 and all the latest Windows security updates. The situation is not affected by which progam sends its output to PDFCreator. It can equally well be Word, Firfox or anything similar. Consequently, I have reverted back to 1.2.3 for the time being.
