Sometimes when I click the “Save” button on the PDFCreator 1.4.2 print dialog box, PDFCreator fails to open the “Save as” dialog box.
I encounter this problem from Gmail, when I click “View” to display a document attached to an e-mail, click “Print” to print the displayed document, choose the PDFCreator print driver, and print.
This use case causes a URL to be the pre-filled value of the Document Title field. The URL does not seem to contain any special characters, but is unusually long: in one case 1033 characters long.
This problem seems to be caused by the pre-filled value of the Document Title field. If I shorten the value before clicking “Save”, then the “Save as” dialog box appears.
Experimentation seems to show that the value of the Document Title field must be under about 300 characters to avoid the problem.
