PDF's Created with 1.5.0 and GS 9.05 or 8.7 are not searchable

Windows Vista SP2+

PDF's Created with 1.5.0 and GS 9.05 or 8.7 are not searchable

The same is true for PDFCreator 1.4.1, both versions of GS.

Please help!

Hi,

this is not genarally the case, it must have something do to with some setting, please restore default settings in PDFCreator and try again.

regards,

Robin

Before posting this message I did an un-install and a re-install with default settings. Is that equivalent to restore default settings? After re-installing with default settings PDFCreator generated PDF’s that were not searchable or copy-able.

Hi, in most cases this depends on the printing application, like Chrome will create text as image making it impossible to search/copy. Please try printing from a different application ( I printed this page from Firefox with PDFCreator 1.5.0 and GS 9.05 and it is searchable).

Robin

According to me it’s a font problem.

I created two documents. First document using Arial en Times New Roman.
Second document Times New Roman and Calibri.
After converting both to pdf with pdfcreator, the whole text of both documents were searchable.
After merging both documents to 1 pdf file the part that had Calibri (originally) as a font wasn’t searchable anynmore. The other part were.

Hi,

this happens not only when merging, but when printing with non-standard fonts from Adobe Reader.
At creation, the documents where probably printed from some office application.
In the moment where the PDFs are merged, they both get “printed” by Adobe Reader.

Robin
