Problem Creating Large PDF Documents

I am creating many large PDF documents using Crystal Reports XI and PDFCreator in a Windows XP Pro SP3 (2GB RAM) environment. Everything works great, except for when the PDF files are large (over 8-9,000 pages).

When creating 9-14,000 page PDF documents, PDFCreator never prompts to save the document once Crystal finishes sending it to the printer, nor is the document saved in the Autosave directory. Basically, nothing happens.

When printing 15000+ page documents, PDFCreator does prompt to save the document. It does show two errors, though, but if I click on the "Next Command" button twice, it will go ahead and create the PDF documents.

I have tried using PDFCreator version 9.8 and 1.0.

Any suggestions on creating 10,000(ten thousand) page PDF documents?

You'd better adopt a 64bit OS like windows 7 64bit ,or 3GB ram memory on 32bit OS, i.e. have a large RAM memory. It seems like your RAM memory is not adequate for printing pool cache.

I have a similar problem, that I sincerely doubt is due to a shortage of RAM  (6GB installed).  The print job is listed as being 160.99MB, in 707 pages.  However, the output file is invariably somewhere around 20 pages in length, ending in a page with this error:

ERROR: ioerror

OFFENDING COMMAND: image

STACK:

It appears, that PDFCreator cannot print .ps files with sizes over 2G (may be because of the 32-bit file offsets (I haven't seen the source code)).
