Server installation and right administration

 Hello

I just updated from 1.2.3 (server installation) to 1.4.0. Often I print from virtualmachine to PDFcreator. Till today all worked fine and I saw the pdf from the host (Windows7). Now in order to view the pdf file I have to switch from  current user (administration right) to Administrator. The same happens when I simply print from the host.

THank you in advance.
Gianni

 anybody can help?

May be you are boring to read the same question but I have read all previous post, all your instruction and the result is that I have to switch from  current user (with administration right) to Administrator.

THis is my log. Is there anybody that have any suggestion? Thank you.

Hi,

is your PDFCreator located in C:\\Program Files (x86)\\PDFCreator\\PDFCreator.exe? Otherwise you need to change that path to where your PDFCreator was installed. This happens, when you update PDFCreator and specify a different path than it was originally installed in, will be fixed in verswion 1.4.2.

regards,

Robin

Hi,

if you have choosen a custom install loaction,

could you take a look at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SYSTEM\\CurrentControlSet\\Control\\Print\\Monitors\\pdfcmon and make sure that the key Pdfcreator points to the proper path? Another user had a similar problem which was caused by an update not setting this path correctly.

regards,

Robin

hello, than for your reply. Till now I supposed the problem was due to my error and it worries me a lot...

Anyway, this is my regedit:

default: (value not set)

driver: pdfcmon.dll

pdfcreator: C:\\Program Files (x86)\\PDFCreator\\PDFCreator.exe

port: pdfcomn

Wait for your news.

gianni

Hi Robin,

yes, PdfCreator was located in  C:\\Program Files (x86)...  and now I have reinstalled it for the fourth-fifth times PdfCreator is located in  C:\\Program Files (x86)\\PDFCreator\\PDFCreator.exe. but nothing changed. The behaviour is the same as in the fisrt post: (I have to switch user towards Administrator in order to get the pdf file...)I saved my new profile with autosave option as Administrator.I noticed that the my profile just configured after a logout and a new login (as Administrator) is not being read and only the default one is active...
keep in touch...Gianni

Hi,

version 1.4.2 is uploading at the moment, please try using that, since there were some problems with UAC in 1.4.1.

If it still doesn´t work properly please tell us.

regards,

Robin

Hi Robin,

local user: at first installation the system works fine. After Windows7 restarting the autosave parameter has been lost.. but the pdf is saved in the directory which was setted, without filename...

On the network: the printer is visible by virtualmachine but the printed test page is blank.

Architect: minor problem (error: unhandled exception... value of 224 is not valid...). Also after a modify the file size is much bigger.. And also a scroll bar is needed for file with high number of pages. If you want I can share my screen by skype to show you step by step...

Bye, Gianni

hello,
just another note: if I double click on server monitor icon in the taskbar then it close definitively.
A restart is needed
hi Robin,
I have a news: I have removed PDF.. and then I have cleaned regedit by deleting any PDFCreator key, manually. Now I have reinstalled the software but it doesn't work anymore...

hi,

after removal and re-installation now it works!.. It's a mistery!

I tested it's behaviour on another pc on W7. Same general result and the problem are the same as I wrote in my prevoious post.

If you need some specific test,  you can trust me because I'm really interested in contribute to development of your product.

ciao
