Unable to display png files in IE8

I used PDFCreator 1.2.3 a couple of times to create PDFs from pictures and it worked great.

But recently when a picture was not coming out right, I selected PNG format in the options and tried to print to file. Though it did not improve the output, it has messed up my browser. IE8 is no longer able to display PNG images.

Though, I am not 100% sure that this is not an IE8 problem, I strongly feel that my action of using PDFCreator has probably something to do with this, as it's the only change agent (related to png files) I can think of.

Other browsers on my machine (Firefox etc) are not affected. Other user accounts on my XP machine are also not affected.

I would really appreciate it, if someone could guide me through the process of fixing my IE8 issue here. What did I do wrong, that I should not do again? Or what is it that caused IE8 to be unable to open png files? Is it a registry fix, or what?

Hi,

has IE8 completely stopped displaying PNG files, or does it just not open the files which are stored on your local machine? Is there any kind of error message? Have you tried installing the latest version of IE8?

It is very difficult to tell what causes this problem without further information, please describe the problem as exactly as possible.
