It is understandable that this does not work for all applications, but why not in PDF creator's own drag and drop conversion or context-menu base conversion?
I definitely would consider "save converted file to input file path" the default expected behavior.

I agree, we will look into this; since it works for the input filename, I can't really think of any reason why it shouldn't also work for the path.
A possible work around for this would be having a tiny script which just takes the input file name / path, sets these in the PDFCreator profile you'd like to use and prints the file to the PDFCreator printer. Then you can place the script on your desktop or anywhere you like and drag&drop files onto it to have them converted in their original location.
