Reports holding in Spool file. Need urgent help!

Trying to recreate a process that has existed for years using an old version of PDFCreator (v. .9.8). Downloaded the newest version and cannot get it to function as the old version did. We are sending prints from an application to the PDFCreator printer. If we send to this printer as a “local printer”, the PDF creates as expected. If we send via the application interface, the PDFCreator printer “sees” it, but it stays in the Spool folder. We have checked every permission we can come up with. The print spool service is running

Also, is there any PDF PrintMonitor in the new version? In the old versionn if the PDF Print Monitor was not running, the jobs stacked up in the spool folder. We are not seeing anything like this on the new system.

Need some urgent ideas as this system is to go live in a couple of weeks. Thanks for any input!

Hi,

there is no print monitor in the new version, but the issue might be similar, please try if it works if there is always a user logged on who is running the PDFCreator.exe.
If you are handling remote print jobs you might like to have a look at our new PDFCreator Server product which runs as Windows service natively:

Thank you. That was the conclusion we have come to. So currently if we have a bunch of files in the Spool and we turn off PDFCreator then turn it back on, the Files get converted as expected. So the only way to get the program to continuously pick up those files would be to use the Server version, which if I’m seeing correctly is not free? I appreciate all your help!

Hi,

yes this is basicallly correct.
