I combined several pdf files in Architect today (August 12, 2014. I used Adobe reader XI to check the files. Adobe reader XI would not open them as in the past. I then attempted to open several Architect files I had authored in Architect 2 weeks ago. Adobe XI would not open them either. However, two weeks ago Adobe Reader would open them. I think Adobe may have updated their reader.
Have you had any reports of Adobe XI reader not opening Architect files? The Architect files were authored with the previous version of the app, not 2.0. Could Adobe be releasing a new version of reader that prevents pdf files from being opened if they are authored in Architect?
Hi,
haven’t really heard about this yet, did you apply any security to the files created in PDF Architect or do you use form elements?
best regards
I am not aware of any security settings. I have used version 1 of Architect for over a year and never had any problems with Adobe readers. What do you mean by form elements? If you mean was the document authored as a form - no.
I have another computer with reader XI (11.0.07), and the same files will not open either. They opened for me 2 weeks ago and opened for others today. If you care to try the file, you can download it here:
http://goo.gl/NeX6RT. If you decide to download be patient, the file is 60 megs. The document is
the 34 page 1939 Commemorative edition of the Palacios Beacon newspaper. Original source - 1500px TIFF files, converted to pdf with PDF Creator 1.7 as individual pages. Then all 34 pdf pages were combined in Architect 1,0.52.8917.
Hi,
I downloaded the document and it loaded in Adobe Reader XI (11.0.08) without any problem.
Maybe a bug in the Reader 11.0.07 version?
best regards,
