Hello,
I am running Windows 7, and had installed several LAN Attached Printers, which were workign fine.
I then installed PDFCreator 1.6.2 (Along with PDF Architect), and then I was unable to print to any of the LAN Printers.
The
printers are still showing up as installed, and I can select them to
‘print’ to. I do not receive any error message when I print, but the
output is not showing up on the printer either.
A co-worked of mine has the same problem.
I have un-installed PDFCreator / PDF Architect), but the LAN Printers are still not working.
I then re-installed JUST PDFCreator, but alas, the LAN Printers are still not working.
I have searched for similar reported problems, but have not been able to find an answer.
Printing
to PDFCreator DOES work, and I can generate PDF’s of the files I want,
but I really need to be able to print to the LAN Printers as well.
At this point, I am willing to forgo PDFCreator, to get the LAN Printers back to working state, but that isn’t working either.
Can you tell me what all PDFCreator updates (maybe in the Registry) that I could remove, once I un-install PDFCreator ??
or tell me what might be the problem that PDFCreator introducred into my system, where the LAN Printers are not working ?
Thanks
Hi,
The ‘printing test page’ DID NOT work… BUT I had a ‘system restore’ point, which was right before when I installed PDFCreator.
I restored back to that point, and verified that all of my other printers were OK.
I then installed PDFCreator again, (and made sure to NOT select PDFArchitect (or the other ‘extras’ that are thrown in when you install), and after installing PDFCreator the Printers were all back to NOT WORKING.
I do not have time to keep trying this out, so I restored BACK to the point that was working, and have since installed a different free PDF Create tool, which has not caused me a problem.
This entry can be closed out… I would have liked to stay with PDFCreator, but I do not have the time to troubleshoot what the install of PDFCreator is doing to my Windows 7 install.
Hi,
I have the same problem.
I am also running Windows 7, and have several network printers installed, which were working fine. I then installed PDFCreator 1.6.2 (Along with PDF Architect), and then I was unable to print to any of the printers.
The printers are still showing up as installed,
Errors when attempting to print:
IE - when I try to select my printer the button is greyed out (unable to select).
Firefox - error is "An unknown error occurred while printing"
Lotus Notes - error is "Cannot access printer or printer driver (may be due to insufficient memory)"
Excel - error is "Current printer is unavailable. Select another printer. "
PDF Creator works fine
I have now unistalled PDF Creator and problems with the printers still exist.
Yes, I have rebooted (a million times).
No, can’t print test page due to errors mentioned above.
Do you have any other ideas? I am unable to restore my printers due to system settings. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Hi,
could you check if your spooler service is still running?
In general we can only support the latest version 1.7.0, please update and see if the problem is still there.
regards,
Robin
Robin, I just noticed your reply… I am still without my network printers. Yes, my spooler service is still running.
I uninstalled PDF Architect but still can’t print. I need to fix my printer problems before reinstalling again. I see a newer post, “All real printing to companies network printers halted” where other people have the same issue. Have you found a fix?
Hi,
it is possible your PSCRIPT5.DLL is to new for your printers, have you tried reinstalling one of the printers drivers?
regards,
Robin
Hi,
My printers worked before this. I have tried to reinstall the drivers and I get error code -122.
Hello, I broke down and asked my IT team for help. I found out that any version above pdfcreator 1.50 will break my companies global print functions. (new versions of pdf creator overwrite a shared dll with one that is not compatible with our corporate print). I uninstalled pdf creator and ran a printfix file (I’m not sure where others outside of my company would find this file - sorry). After I ran this file I reinstalled the 1.5 version of pdf creator. After install I opened up pdf creator, went to the options menu… General tab 2… select update ->Never. (if pdfcreator updates, it will break the printers again.) I hope this helps!
I have the same problem. After installing and uninstalling the latest version of PDF creator all printer drivers were broken. I tried reinstalling the printers, but this fails at well. I see no possibility to get my machine to print.
I am using windows 7.
Do you already have a solution to this?
Hi wouter123,
Hello Team
I’m about to uninstall PDFCreator, reinstall all printers and install back the old working PDFCreator version 1.0.0.
BTW, I like the filename creation tokens used in version 1.0, I always use the current date and time suffix in file names. The datetime token in version 1.9.1 is terrible and uncostomizable.
