Automatically creating bookmarks when merging pdfs of multiple excel worksheets

I would like to know how to print each excel worksheet to an individual
pdf in pdfcreator’s queue, and then merge the individuals pdfs into
one.  Moreover, I would like the merged pdf to have bookmarks equal to
the original excel worksheet names, which point to the beginning of the
original individual pdfs of the now merged pdf.

Can anyone help?

Thanks.

Hi,

which version of PDFCreator are you using?
Versions <1.7.3 have an AddBookmarks script in “Action before saving”, in never versions this is not yet supported.

best regards,

I am using version 1.7.2 of the PDFCreator.

For PDFCreator, I went into options, actions, actions before saving and set the program/script as AddBookmarks.vbs, and saved this setting.  I did not change anything else in the “Action before saving” menu.  Even then, after merging and creating the pdfs, there is no bookmark for the resulting pdf file.  Is there anything I am missing?  What else do I have to do so that the resulting pdf file includes bookmarks for each excel sheet, with the bookmarks being the same as the original worksheet names?

Thanks.

Hi,

please check the script itself to see if any modifications are needed, if so it should say in the scripts comments. Otherwise I can’t really help you with this as versions <2.0 are no longer covered by support.

best regards,

I did not see any comments on the script.  I did, however, update my PDFCreator to version 2.1.2 (the newest version).  I have opened it and played around with the Application and Profile Settings, but I do not see where I can change it so that PDFCreator will add bookmarks when I convert an excel file into a pdf file.  After conversion, I want the pdf file to contain bookmarks that use the excel sheet names.  How do I do this for the newest version of PDFCreator?

Hi,

I am afraid this hasn't made it into the new versions of PDFCreator (yet), but I will add it to the feature requests and we will discuss it in our team.

best regards,
