Blank pages in 1.3.2

I've been using PDFCreator in my good old Windows Vista box for several years. Since I upgraded to 1.3.2 I started getting blank pages most of the times. I've seen several threads and a FAQ entry but none of the them seem to apply to me:

  • It still happens if I get rid of all non-English characters (I suppose that's what "Unicode characters" means).
  • The PDF source does not contain any error message I can spot.
  • The page is blank in two different readers (Adobe Reader and Google Chrome).

I've downgraded to 1.3.0 and PDF files are correct again. Any idea?

I am using PDFCreator 1.3.2 on Windows 7 (English)

After looking into the issue I that the issue is caused by PDFCreator failing to create a proper .inf with necessary details in C:\\Users\\\\AppData\\Local\\Temp\\PdfCreator\\Spool. Everytime a print job is submitted to PDFCreator, a .inf file and a .ps file will be created. The PS file seems to be fine, but the .INF file seems to be corrupted by non-latin characters, e.g. in Document Title. As a result, the PDFCreator spooler cannot read the .INF file successfully and thus cannot locate the .ps file. That should be why the blank page is printed out.

To PDFForge team, to reproduce the problem is easy. I can easily generate a working INF and a not-working INF file by printing a website with English and Chinese title respectively. Please contact me at my ID @gmail.com if you need some of these INF files for troubleshooting.

Please help to fix this problem soon as this is really annoying... Thanks!

I have exactly the same problem with version 1.3.2 ; 1.4 ; 1.7.

1.3.0 is no longer available to download.

Any ideas ?

To get the most recent version running properly, please post your setuplog.txt here, maybe it already indicates an issue.

The history is :

PDFCreator is installed (with admin session) on a Windows Server 2008 Enterprise (GDP2008 in the logs). About 40-50 clients connects to the server throught RDP. Each client use PDFCreator to print some documents. All working well at this moment.

I don't know if it can help but my problem appears after integrated GDP2008 to a windows DOMAIN.

My environments vars TEMP and TMP are good. When i try to print with PDFCreator, I see in the PDFCreator Spooler the document, it generates .inf and .ps in my local temp dir and generate a ".pdf" (blank name) with empty page (about 3Ko).

When i double-clic on .ps file in my temp folder, the .pdf file is correctly generated (with good name and full document).

Hi,


Now my problem is :

for every print throught RDP, a dialog box appears “program can’t be print on desktop”.

I have to manually confirm the save of each file even if i set automatic save in pdfcreator…

may I ask, why did you disabled server mode in your .ini while installing on a server?
To get the latest version running, I would suggest to completely unistall any existing version of PDFCreator, reboot (if possible) and run the setup of 1.7.0 manually without the .ini file.
(choose expert setup)

We don’t need server mode because all prints are ‘local’ throught RDP.

I’ve already tried to completely uninstall any existing version of PDFCreator, reboot and run setup of 1.7.0 (with and without .ini file) and the first problem persists…

Do you have non-ascii chars in your filenames?

If you don´t and have time for additional troobleshooting, you could enable the log for the pdfcmon.dll in version 1.7.0 by adding the following to your registry: 
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Monitors\pdfcmon:

Well i have finally succeed to install PDF Creator 1.4.2 and it works !


- Completely uninstall all existing versions of PDFCreator ;
- Cleanup registery ;
- Delete pdfcmon.dll in system32 ;
- Reinstall PDFCreator 1.4.2 works.
