Bug Report: 1.5.1 hangs when printing from Textpad

1.5.1 cannot generate any output from Textpad any more, this has worked fine on previously installed versions up to 1.3 (never upgraded to 1.4).

The interim page with multiple choices appears, but clicking ‘Save’ does nothing but refresh the pane. Cancel works so can get out of the situation.

Textpad 4.7.3 under XP SP3 w/AMD processor.

Hi,

i just installed Textpad 6.1.3 and it works fine together with PDFCreator 1.5.1
(have tested on win7, will test on XP as soon as I have time)

regards,

Robin

The printing to Textpad has me stumped as the only change made to the system in the last 90 days was the upgrade to 1.5.1 yesterday. As I fiddle, more oddities are appearing.

 - A single page Textpad file will print
 - A multi page Textpad file will freeze

Clicking ‘Save’ appears to do nothing, but I suspect something is churning away, because on occasion a Run time error 7/Out of memory pane will appear.

If X is clicked to close the pane, it refreshes. This is confirmed by moving the pane to elsewhere on the screen, clicking X, and having it re-appear in the original position.

Tried to print a Framemaker file today, and discovered that PDF Creator froze on that too.

To make matters more difficult, double clicking the icon is not bringing the Print Monitor on screen. The only way I can get it is to print from Word, and that initiates another pane to print Textpad file or Framemaker file which is Waiting status. To get to the Word printing, I can Cancel the Textpad/Framemaker output and Word will proceed to print normally.

CtlL has not been any help, no details of steps being processed are listed. If there is a diagnostic mode would like to trigger it.

This is bizarre, am beginning to wonder if there is an integration issue with any software other than Office.

That reads incorrectly, am beginning to suspect that my system has an integration problem with software other than Office and PDF Creator may be the manifestation of it.

Hi,

maybe something went wrong during the update like the pdfcmon.dll may have not been replaced properly, have you tried completely removing PDFCreator, doing a reboot, and reinstalling afterwards?

Yes, a few times actually. Dropped back as far as 1.2.3 and worked my way forward to 1.5.1.

The same issues now affect all releases so 'something' is damaged in my system which gives me partial PDF Creator. Nothing else appears to be affected and only some features are being affected.

My plan now is to drop back to a previous Ghost and work forward a step at a time and find out at which point the peculiarities begin.
