Error 339 Component MSCOMCTL.OCX or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is miss

 Hi,

I am trying to install PDFCreator 1.2.1 on Windows 7. I have tried this on two computers and each time I get the same error. (both on 32 bit and 64 bit)

It always shows this error:

Error 339 Component MSCOMCTL.OCX or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid

when I run PDFCreator. However if i right click on it and choose Run as Administrator, it launches correctly.

I have searched the forums and found a few suggestions of registering the DLL using regsrv32 mscomctl.oxc

I have tried that, it correctly registeres but I still have the same problem.

I can set it to always run as admin, but this doesn't seem like the proper solution.

Any ideas how to fix it?

Thanks,

Jason

So this error still occurs even with 1.6.2. I reported this 2 years ago and its still an issue.

I just installed pdfcreator on a newly installed windows 7, 64 bit machine. Exactly the same error.

I see quite a few other people experiencing the error but no definitive solution from the devs.

Guys, have you seen this error? are you able to reproduce it?

Thanks,

Jason

Hi,

for most users the methods you mentioned above solve the problem permanently, they run PDFCreator as admin once or use regsrv32 mscomctl.oxc and the problem is gone afterwards.
So it is most likely a system specific problem, but it is strange that it should occur on a newly installed Windows, did you change anything on your system which could affect this?

Robin

I have the same issue with Windows 8.1 and pdfc 1.7.3. The new windows version doesn’t include vb6 runtime. I think you must to include in the installer. Thanks

Hi,

we will have a look at this, did you update from 8.0->8.1 or did you install 8.1 directly?
