How to copy an image from one page to the next?

I have inserted an image into a multi page document. I want to repeat the image onto each page of the document. After inserting the image from a file, I had to resize it to fit the page. I would have expected that I can copy it from the first page to the other pages of the document, but it does not appear to be the case. Any suggestions?
