Installation of PDFCreator 1.1.0 completely prevents printing

I uninstalled the previous version of PDFcreator (which had run well) and installed the new version 1.1.0.  I was told the print spooler was not running (before and after installation) and that "the RPC server is unavailable" (error 1722). After installation, not only could I not use PDFcreator, but I found that I COULD NOT PRINT AT ALL (using my HP Deskjet D1560) ("There are no printers installed on your computer"). I then tried using "run (cmd) net start spooler", and was told that this had started the spooler. I then again uninstalled PDFcreator and again installed version 1.1.0, with the same results.  I CANNOT PRINT AT ALL, although the Printer Dashboard lists "HP Desktop D1500 series" as available, connected,  and ready; PDFcreator is not listed by the Printer Dashboard. Can anyone help?

I encounted a similar problem - PDFCreator would not appear in my printer list, then I lost all printers, and also had error messages during installation.

However, now seems OK after I upgraded to latest version of Windows Installer (v4.5, previously v3), then re-installed PDFCreator.

To check your version of WI, instructions below:

(from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2438651/)

Method 3: Check your version of Windows Installer, and upgrade to the latest version if it is needed

Important

This method applies to Windows XP, to Windows Vista, to Windows Server 2003, to Windows Server 2003 R2, and to Windows Server 2008 only.

  1. Click Start/Run, type cmd in the box, and then press Enter to open a Command Prompt window.
  2. At the command prompt, type MSIExec, and then press Enter. If the MSI engine is working, there should be no error messages, and a separate dialog box should open. This shows the MSI version.
  3. If the installer version is not version 4.5, see the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base for information and for a link to download Windows installer 4.5:
    942288  (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/942288/ ) Windows Installer 4.5 is available
  4. Try to install or to uninstall again.

I subsequently uninstalled PDFCreator ver. 1.1.0 and re-booted, and found that I could then print with my HP DeskJet printer. I then installed an old version (1.0.2)  of PDFCreator, and this now works too. The setup program for ver. 1.1.0 apparently requires attention. The only remaining (minor) problem is that small fragments of text (less than about 60 words) that have been marked (selected) now do not seem to get through, either to the DeskJet printer or to PDFCreator - only the header and footer are printed.

I have the same problem, but my MSI version is already 4.5.  I'm downgrading back to the old version of PDF Creator which worked fine anyway.  At least they got rid of the Yahoo Toolbar malware.

The same problem on my Vista 32-bit with Windows Installer v4.5. ;)

I must fall back to PDF Creator 1.0.2

I have the same problem (win7, 64 bit). All my printers where gone!

My solution was a system restore and now I'm stuck with an old version of pdf creator. I cannot uninstall my old version anymore, because of an internal error: Cannot find utCompiledCode record for this version of the uninstaller.
