Merging dialog

Hi,

I am often printing PDF files and merging them into single one PDF document.

There is a little confusing, that when i print more documents and forgot to merge them manually, only the last PDF is saved.

So, it is possible to set up, that when second PDF file is printed via PDF creator, Merge dialog will appear automaticaly?

Second question, is it possible to add option, to automatically merge all files before saving final document?

Third, is it possible to include merge dilalog into standart PDF creator output dialog (may be on left or right side of standard dialog. in this case it will be more transparent …

Thaks for answer.

Hi,

I am afraid there are no settings for this.
The only thing which might help is running the PDFCreator.exe with the parameter /ManagePrintJobs, this will cause it to load witht the merge dialog opened.
We have received a lot of different feedback about the new merge dialog and are still looking for the best solution.

best regards,

Hi,

thank you for your Answer. Merging PDF files is very important feature. May be you can find inspiration in PDFFactory…

  1. Will you create any discussion thread about merge dialog?

  2. How can I set (or where) the parameter /ManagePrintJobs? When i Print document, it will open automatically standard dialog…

Thank you for your Advice.

Martin.

Hi,

once we have moved to a new forum, 1. is probably a good idea.
2. Setting the parameter will only haven an effect if you lauch the PDFCreator.exe directly.
You can either call the pdfcreator.exe from a command line e.g. PDFCreator.exe /ManagePrintJobs or create a shortcut to the PDFCreator.exe and add /ManagePrintJobs to “target” in the properties of the shortcut.
To get back to your original questions, automatically opening the merge dialog as soon as a second file is printed or auto-merging on saving would be unpractical in many cases, so this would need to be optional. More options also make the software harder to learn, so it is a bit complicated finding the right mixture of giving experienced users the options they need without making it to hard to understand for new users. If you prefer a version with print monitor, you could try using PDFCreator 1.7.3, which can still be downloaded here:

(uninstall the existing version and reboot first)
