Output page size problem

I need to output into PDF format a Word Doc formatted to 6" X 9" page size.  Before generating PDF I went to Options/Document Properties/DP 2 and entered a custom paper size of 432 X 684 (6X9) and then generated PDF file.

But the output is displayed on an 8.5 X 11 background (and Acrobat properties says it's and 8.5 X 11 format).  The actual text is the correct size, but the PDF page size appears wrong.

Help! (and thanks)

CS

I'm having the same problem, I tried setting the paper size to C5 which is slightly longer that 6x9, but it still prints out on  8 1/2 x 11 size. any help will be appreciated.

Thanks,

RichMan1

Sounds very similar to my problem ....I set it to custom of 298 width and 312 height  (about 4" x 4.3")  but the pdf file created is 8.26" x 11.69" - almost the same size as your incorrect pages.

And my little "pages" are correctly sized just centred from the top of the larger page.

I'd love to know what I'm doing wrong.  Help someone!!

be sure to select 'postscript custom page size' in the 'scale to paper size' printing dialog box of ms word

I was experiencing the same problem printing from MS Publisher.

I was able to resolve it by the following:

1. Make sure your paper size is correct or user defined in the MS application (File>Page Setup -or- Page Layout>Size)

2. While in your Office application, open the "printer selection" window (File>Print -or- Ctrl-P).

3. Make sure PDFCreator is selected as your printer.

4. Click on "Properties".

5. In the "PDFCreator Document Properties" window, click on "Advanced".

6. Click on "Paper Size" and either choose your paper size, or select "Postscript Custom Page Size".  If you select Custom Page Size, a new window will open where you define your paper size, units of measure, paper feed direction, and print offsets relative to paper feed direction.

This got my 5.5x8.5" project to print correctly on 5.5x8.5" paper, rather than centering it in the middle of 8.5x11.0" paper.

Hope this helps!

Did you get this problem sorted?? I am having the same trouble and have a project that I have to get done in the nextfew days. If anyone can help I'd appreciate it!!

Raballam, follow the steps CreatorFan pointed. It works. I had this problem and this is the way I fixed it. Everything is resizing ok now. Good luck

I followed all the steps you describe but the output is nonetheless always a letter-sized document, never the custom settings I have entered. Is it enough only to enter the paper size or do I need to do something with paperfeed direction and print offsets, etc (although as far as I can see they are completely irrelevent to getting a useable pdf document)? I've already spent four hours trying to get this to work. There is really no reason in this day and age for something so BASIC to be so complicated. Or is there?

P.S. Is it just my imagination, or do the German tech people at PDFCreator only respond to inquiries in German?

I can't get 11x17 page sizes to work properly either.  I have a portrait oriented image in GIMP and I've set the page size to 11 x 17 at the system Printer Settings, at the GIMP print dialogue, AND in the Options of PDFCreator and it comes out in landscape mode every time!

and some times, I can't figure out why yet, I don't even get 17x11 and instead get an 8.26 x 11.69 page size.  this is ridiculous.

Late contribution from me... the advice from CreatorFan worked for me, and I am a very happy bunny.

Cheers!

What I couldn’t get to work in GIMP (I wanted a PDF in A3 format) I got done with Irfan View.

I exported my .xcf file as .jpg, opened in Irfan View, then printed with PDFCreator. In the Irfan printing dialogue box you can set size and margin options - all that I couldn’t find in the Creator.

Worth a try maybe, good luck!
