Password field inactive + override file unfonctionnal since 2.0.1

hi,

i want to notice you 2 things:

1) since the 2.0 PdfCreator update, when i generate a proctected pdf by password the “type your password” box popup but the field is not active and i have to click on it.
on 1.7.x , the field was always active and it was more convienent

could you fix it ?

2) since the 2.0.1 update when i want to override a pdf file, even if i say yes, it generates a xx_1.pdf

Hi,

point 1: I confirm this behavior (click)

Hi,

yes point 1 is reproducable, the new versions use WPF and we are trying to find a way to fix this.
point 2 is most likely a setting, please check your autosave settings and disable “Ensure unique filenames” .

best regards,

Hi Robin,

for the point 2, i found how to fix it:
indeed i have to edit my profile in autosave section but i think there is a bug :
my profile was set up as :
activate autosave > uncheck
don’t override existing files > check but unclickable

so i have to do :
check activate autosave
uncheck don’t override existing files
uncheck activate autosave

regards

Point 1: in V. 2.0.2 you still have to click on password-box.

Hi,

after a bit of testing, I think you actually need to make sure the file isn’t opened elsewhere, the setting really only matters if you use autosave. The only time I got a numbered copy of the file while using the manual save process was when the file was sill in use and couldn’t be replaced.

We haven’t been able to fix point 1 yet but we are working on it. I guess pre-defining the passwords is not a suitable option for your scenario?

best regards,

hi Robin,

no problem for autosave since i’ve change the option as i said before

for the point 1 thanks for your advice, indeed a pre-defining password was a good idea ! it works
