PDF Creator margins and scaling formatting errors

In Windows 7 PDF Creator vertically misaligns the text by approx. 5 mm. Moreover, it horizontally scales the page to a slightly different size than the source document. This is intolerable in printing and publishing where scaling and text alignment on the page are ciritical. I would like to use PDF Creator, but cannot until there is a fix for this problem. Is there a fix for this?

NOTE: This does not happen in any of the PDF writing products I have used from Microsoft, PDF995, or Foxit. Therfore, I have to believe that this is a flaw in PDF Creator.

Hi,

does this happen regardless from which application you are printing?

Since nobody else has reported this so far (and it is a visible problem), it may be some system / application specific thing. Which version of PDFCreator are you using?

Robin

We are running into the same issue.  I’m wondering what your settings are.  We are auto saving the file into a text document and then printing to a printer.  Are you running the same them or just saving a pdf file?

My problem cold not be addressed by the method you describe because we are producing press-ready copy in which the fonts, graphics, etc. must be very precisely rendered and aligned for the final page to be acceptable.

Subsequent to making the original post I purchased PDF Creator, thinking it had been cleaned up. The version you buy has a cute but totally non-standard user interface presentation and NO DOCUMENTATION OR USER MANUAL OF ANY KIND! It was so bad and difficult to use that I demanded and got my money back.

More often than not in life you get what you pay for, and at a price of zero PDF Creator is badly overpriced. If you are in a situation where your time is money, get Foxit Phantom. it will be cheaper than using “free” rubbish.

Hi,

where you talking about the PDF Architect all along?
PDF Creator is free and can´t be purchased.

I have similar problem. When I’ve print Word document where page is set to 99x210 (WxH) then PDF output gave me A4 (210x297) with original content printed in top-middle (not resized, hopefully). Is it possible to set PDFCreator to “shrink” page according to source document (or “enlarge” in opposite situation)?

I am working with PDFCreator.  I almost have a solution in the following:

<font color="black" face="Courier New" size="2"><span style="font-size:10.0pt">Under Devices and Printers</span></font>
<font color="black" face="Courier New" size="2"><span style="font-size:10.0pt">Select Printer Server Properties at top</span></font>
<font color="black" face="Courier New" size="2"><span style="font-size:10.0pt">Highlight letter</span></font>
<font color="black" face="Courier New" size="2"><span style="font-size:10.0pt">Click Create a new form</span></font>
<font color="black" face="Courier New" size="2"><span style="font-size:10.0pt">Change form name to PDFLetter</span></font>
<font color="black" face="Courier New" size="2"><span style="font-size:10.0pt">Change left from 0.00in to 0.25in</span></font>
<font color="black" face="Courier New" size="2"><span style="font-size:10.0pt">Change top from 0.00in to 0.25in</span></font>
<font color="black" face="Courier New" size="2"><span style="font-size:10.0pt">Click Okay</span></font>
<font color="black" face="Courier New" size="2"><span style="font-size:10.0pt">&nbsp;</span></font>
<font color="black" face="Courier New" size="2"><span style="font-size:10.0pt">I restarted the print spooler, but I don't know if that's needed.</span></font>
<font color="black" face="Courier New" size="2"><span style="font-size:10.0pt">&nbsp;</span></font>
<font color="black" face="Courier New" size="2"><span style="font-size:10.0pt">I went into the printer properties of the PDFCreator printer</span></font>
<font color="black" face="Courier New" size="2"><span style="font-size:10.0pt">Clicked on Preferences</span></font>
<font color="black" face="Courier New" size="2"><span style="font-size:10.0pt">Click on Advanced</span></font>
<font color="black" face="Courier New" size="2"><span style="font-size:10.0pt">Changed Paper Size to PDFLetter</span></font>
<font color="black" face="Courier New" size="2"><span style="font-size:10.0pt">Clicked OK a couple of times</span></font>

This fixed the top of the page and it started to print correctly however, the text at the bottom of the page is up a line higher than it should be.  I’m trying to determine why half way down the page it gets missed aligned now.

Hi,

it is possible to force PDFCreator to use a fixed paper size (it will not shrink or enlarge the content, it will cut off everything exceeding the paper size). This can be set in options-> Program->Document->Document properties 2.

Robin

I appreciate your taking the time to research this, but I have worked out other solutions.

If the product were properly designed in the first place you would have had no need to waste your time running down something that never should have happened.
