Confusing issue - I think I've found the cause but not the fix... Symptoms are:
If the PDF Print Monitor is running when I press print (i.e. if I've manually started it from the Windows Start Menu), PDF creation works fine.
But if PDF Print Monitor is not running when I print to the PDFCreator printer I see the job go through the XP Print Spooler but then nothing happens. Shouldn't PDFCreator then be called automatically?
And when I do start PDF Print Monitor after printing, there are no jobs showing in the queue.
I think this is some issue with paths: PDF Creator has made two PDFCreatorSpool folders on my computer:
- C:\\Documents and Settings\\\\Local Settings\\Temp\\PDFCreator\\ - when PDF Creator is running, files I print seem to come through here and PDF OK.
- C:\\WINDOWS\\system32\\config\\systemprofile\\Local Settings\\Temp\\PDFCreator - files that go in here never seem to be picked up by PDFCreator
So is there anything I can do about this? I like PDFCreator but it's too annoying to have to manually run the print monitor every time I want to print, and I don't want to run it at startup and have yet another process running on my machine the whole time.
Thanks!
[I'm running Win XP SP3, PDFCreator 0.9.9 - new install, I haven't installed any earlier versions]
