We are proud to release PDFCreator 1.3.0 to the public today. In this release, much has changed. We have replaced the RedMon DLL with own code, which no longer requires workarounds due to the Windows Vista / Windows 7 UAC safety features. It also removes the requirement to the AFPL in our package. As this changed some fundamental parts, we were reworking big parts of PDFCreator and needed much testing.
The PDFArchitect now is available to the public and included in the PDFCreator package. It allows you to do some modifications in PDF files. You can merge them or rotate or delete pages.
Thank you to all the developers and supporters for this great software and its ongoing development. It is a part of my daily routine that I can't work without.
The installer does not allow me to change the install location; am reverting to 1.2.3 since I have a multi-boot machine this affects my backup / recovery process. Also PDFArchitect comes up with blank screen and no function (only tested on WinXP SP2 X64 -- SP2 the last SP for X64).
Before I used 1.23 on Windows 2003 Server. It worked fine, but I was not able to automatically print the job after creating the PDF (always poping up printer selection).
So I decided to give 1.3 a chance.
Ooooops .....
After printing a testpage all printers disapear from printerdialog - event log shows an error inside one DLL of pdfcreator.
It is not possible to restart windows printservice - no effect. I had to deinstall new release and switch back to an older one.
After that I've rebooted the server (remotly) and it does not come back, just a ping not more ............ that's the reason that I can't give you more details about the DLL.
first of all : Thank you for all the good work !But there is something very concerning about the new version 1.3.0 : i can't specify the folder to install the software !now it's placed into drive c:\\program files x86\\pdfcreator - usually i install all software into different path'...Why did you disabled this ?...haven't tested the software yet...
