pdfCreator not printing when clicking 'save' button

I have a problem where PDFCreator does not print the document when I click the save button. I get the dialogue with the meta-data, but when I tell PDFCreator to save the document it does nothing. The problem started when I upgraded from 1.3.2 to 1.5. I tried to downgrade, but the problem stays. Using Process Explorer I can see that it uses 100% of one CPU core and has lots of handles to HKCR\\. open. I enabled logging, but the output is inconclusive to me. Any help would be very much appreciated.

Well, I found the cause of the problem: PDF creator stumbles over backslashes in the document title. I don’t know why the document titles now contain the full path, but it seems that this isn’t handled correctly. Please fix his issue, as the only workaround seems to be editing the .inf file. Modifying the name in the dialogue does not work.

Hi,

thank you very much for pointing this out, unfortunatly i wasn´t able to reproduce this behaviour. The title depends on the printing application, from which application did you print? I tried printing from Firefox, Adobe and Word, but didn´t get the path as title anywhere. Even if I add backslashes manually they get replaced with _ and output is fine.

regards,

Robin

Hi

I have the very same issue: ‘save’ button is not working, pdfcreator tooks 100% cpu. I upgraded to 1.6 (from 1.2 or 1.0). Then I uninstalled and installed again. The issue is still visible, it does not depend on any particular application from which I’m printing.

What should I check/do next?

Regards,
Jakub

Hi,

which OS are you running?
Please try to print a test page from the PDFCreator options.

regards,

Robin
