Temp Files Filling up

Hello,

When PDFCreator runs it creates a temp folder in the Temp directory under the logged in Users profile. They just stay there until they are deleted manually. How can PDFCreator delete them on it’s own after it finishes the print job?

Thanks

Hi,

only the folder itself isn´t deleted, its contents are. Why do you need the empty folders to be removed (just asking out of curiousoty) ?

regards,

Robin

It’s been my experience that when the Temp directory gets filled with files/folders, it bogs the system down. For example, we have users that connect to Oracle. Occasionally it will keep freezing up on them or run very slow. Emptying the Users Temp directory will fix it.

For this reason, once PDFCreator finishes the printing job, it would be great if it deleted the Temp files it leaves behind.

Thanks,

Byron

Hi,

this is just an empty flder that will be created upon the next print job. This is unlikely to slow down the system, because is does not require space unless there are print jobs that are not converted yet (and they then have to stay there). So I don’t see the point in deleting that empty folder.

kind regards,
Philip

I should have added, that the folders are not empty. They have several .xml files in each folder and hundreds of .html files in the root of the Temp directory. These don’t go away unless I delete them manually.

Can you give me the folder name and some sample file names? PDFCreator should not have such a folder.

Thanks for you help with this.

An example would be a directory named " tmp71files". Inside are three files named colorschememapping.xml 1KB
fileist.xml  1KB
themedata.thmx

At the root of Temp is a file named tmp71.html   28KB

Are these not the result of PDFCreator’s printing?

Byron

Hi,

only the folder AppData\Local\Temp\PDFCreator\spool contains temp files created by PDFCreator which get deleted automatically after the according print job is done.

Robin

Thanks for your response.
