I downloaded and installed PDFCreator.
I specifically unchecked the box to NOT install the yahoo tool bar.
During install ESET NOD32 reported a virus:
Win32/Adware.Toolbar.Dealio application
Given that I specifically stated that I do NOT want the tool bar, this was distressing.
Also, the installation process threw an error right after NOD32 quarantined the Adware.
After install was complete I noticed that I HAVE THE YAHOO TOOLBAR in firefox.
I DO NOT WANT THIS TOOLBAR!!!
I cannot uninstall it.
I tried using control panel Add/Remove
And also using Options->Help->Uninstall. Both of them fail with the error:
The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable:
C:\\Users\\Debbie\\AppData\\Local\\Temp\\{2A31FC48-4758-4CAF-8736-04DFCEB08EF3}\\pdfforge Toolbar.msi cannot be found.
So now I have a tool bar I do not want and cannot uninstall it.
How do I get rid of it! I read your post
http://www.pdfforge.org/forum/open-discussion/4788-viruses-malware-and-spyware
and have already done everything you asked.
I decided to uninstall pdfcreator and reinstall to see if it would clean up the problem.
Re-downloaded and installed pdfcreatorStandard installation
Kept all defaults
It did NOT ask about the toolbar or mention that it was going to install it.
Installation completed. No errors.
Attempt to uninstall the tool bar again (control panel). FAILED!
I have confirmed that the pdfforge Toolbar.msi file does not exist at the pathname mentioned in the error. However I don’t know where that file is or where to get it such that the uninstall will complete.
I am running Windows 7 home. ESET NOD32 is my antivirus program. I am running Firefox version 3.6.6
