Upgrade to Version 1.1.0

When I installed the latest version of PDF Creator on Windows XP it removed all my printer driver.

Please check the BUG

I've never encounter such occasion since my initial installation of PDFCreator 0.9.5. From version 0.9.5, 0.9.6, 0.9.7, 0.9.8, 0.9.9, 1.0.0 to the current 1.1.0 version, all runs well on my windows xp sp3 32bit OS.

Merry Christmas!

Hello,

are there no printers at all or just the PDFCreator printer?

probably just the print spooler is stopped, which can be started from the command line with:

net start spooler

kind regards,
Philip

Same issue here.  Had previous version 1.0.2 and then upgraded... now all printers are gone.  Will have to start from scratch....

..am a very unhappy camper.

Running windows XP SP3.

I have the same problem.  I upgraded from 1.0.1 to 1.1.0 and all my printers were removed.  Running XPSP3.  I am NOT happy.

I have freshly installed PdfCreator 1.1.0 on Windows 7.

The System Print Dialog does not show all printer options by default.

Only PdfCreator is shown.

The other options are shown only when I refresh the printers list.

(i.e. right-click and select refresh in the context menu).

Below is the initial Dialog

Print Dialog - Intial

Below is the Dialog after Refresh

Print Dialog - After Refresh

Hope that helps.

Hello,

I have the same issue on windows XP , all printer drivers have been removed ...

Same issue but with Vista 64.  Other printers return after reboot but still no PDF Creator, however, the Print Monitor is available through the Start Menu.

Likewise, everything running fine under v1.0.1

Have tried fresh installation - same results.

Have Log File if it will help.

I had the same issue:  no printers listed, win xp sp3.  I restarted the windows print spooler, and this fixed it.  Note you can also start the print spooler from the Services management console:  control panel > administrative tools > services > print spooler.  Right click and choose restart or start or stop-then-start.

This seems to have been a byproduct of the fact that the installation logged that the RPC server was not available.  However, the RPC server was indeed running.

I guess the install has to stop the print spooler to install the printer driver.  However, later on it should be able to restart the spooler.

A perhaps related problem is that for certain print jobs, pdfcreator uses endless amounts of paged pool until it runs out of resources.  Printing the same thing, bullzip works just fine (bullzip also uses ghostscript, but I don't have which version handy).  Pdfcreater seems to have some issues in how it uses various windows resources.

I am in the same boat. All my network printers are gone, and the printer service appears to have been altered somehow. I'm not sure how I'm going to be able to fix this. When I try to add a printer I get this:

http://screencast.com/t/sTghSfiXw

Good thing I was right in the middle of something important when the upgrade notification came, and against my better judgement I upgraded. Now I have time sensitive tasks that I cannot complete.

I'm wishing I had read this forum first. I dont' have time to be an IT guy and figure out how to get print spooler and who knows what else back running.

The install completed with errors. Where can I send the error log?

Ok. Here's how to at least get your printers back:

Go to Start > Run and type
net start spooler

Here's what I have done to fix this:

1. uninstall PDFCreator 1.1

2. reboot

3. download version 1.0 from here:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/pdfcreator/files/PDFCreator/

Back up and running with the old version.

I too had the same problem upgrading from 1.0.2 to 1.1.0 in which I also lost all my printers, and got the "print spooler stopped working" message.

I took the advice in message #11 from "jaredm" and uninstalled 1.1.0 and re-installed 1.0.2 and everything was back to normal working like it always did, just great! Until that bug is fixed, I will stay with 1.0.2 which works just fine.

Go to:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/pdfcreator/files/PDFCreator/

and download 1.0.2 if you need to go back one version.
