/UseINI install switch aint working on my Windows 7 32bits version

Ive thouroughly search all helps to try finding a solution to this problem.
I used to have a wroking version of PDFcreator that I used with two different ini files. One was dedicated to print PDF and the other one was printing TIFF files. It workied fine until I decided to replicate the installation on Windows 7. No more luck. I tried to use the

PDFCreator-1_2_0_setup.exe /UseINI

command in order to be able to recreate the installation. No success. After many trials I conclused that this /UseINI parameter was no longer working with the installation .EXE.

I desperatly need this feature. It's mendatory to setup two printers. Unless someonelse has another solution. Please Help

1- I just found the answer to my query. Thanks to Seagram from his post dated Tue, 04/13/2010 - 08:52 Loading Profiles #1

He is my interpretation of the solution. PDFcreator has its own multi printer handling apparatus. Within the “Printer”/“Options” (or Ctrl-O) you have access to all printer parameters as well as the proper facilities to create many printer profiles. You can save those profiles in files with the Save button on the top right of the profile window. You can also recall any profile from the Open button.

Steps to create another printer and its corresponding profile:

1- Ctrl-O will open the profile window.
2- Click on the button Add Profile. A small window invites you to write a new profile name. I used the name TIFFprofile. Choose you appropriate descriptive profile name and click OK.
3- Your new Profile Name appears in the long multichoice profile button. You are now ready to change all these profile parameters like PDF or TIFF or any other format. You can also choose the default saving directory and many other parameters.
4- Once all parameters are set, click on the Save button at the bottom of the window. Do Not mistake that Save button with the one on the Top Right. That other Save button is for saving the profile parameters in a file. The Save button at the bottom is for saving parameters for that particular Profile to the Window Registry. These are two totally different actions. It is the Registry values that are taken into account when you print a document.
5- Now that you have defined a new Profile and that you saved all appropriate parameters to that profile into the Registry it would be a good idea save those parameters to a file.
6- Ctrl-O again to reopen the Profile window. This window was closed when you saved the profile parameters to the Registry.

7- Select TIFFprofile from the long multichoice profile button.
8- Press the Save button at the Top Right of the Profile window, choose a file name and Save again.
9- Press Exit, since you are done with the profiling of your new printer.
10- Now you must define a new printer Instance. From the main PDFcreator window use the Printer menu to access the submenu Printers, click it.
11-The PDFcreator Printers Window will open and let you create another printer instance. Enter you new printer name in the appropriate text box. My chosen name is TIFFcreator. Now Press the Add Printer button.
12- From that same window you now can choose which profile to match with the newly added printer. I chose TIFFprofile.
13- Press the Save button on the bottom right of that window to save your changes.

Congratulation, you now have a new printer available from the Windows Printer List.

You can add as many profiles as you want and you can add also many different printers from the PDFcreator window. Each printer can work with its own profile or can share a profile with another printer. You cannot use more than one profile on the same printer at the same time. Who would want to do that anyway. However, you can use more than one printer on the same profile. You can set dozens of profiles and kink them to any printer anytime you want. I suppose the best way to use this feature is to set one printer for one profile and have the ability to use a chosen printer when you are ready to print your document. And maybe, who knows, in the future the creators of PDFcreator will come up with some other formats like Word and Excel. Wouldn’t it be great to convert a file to WORD? Choose a PDF document and print it back to a Word document. I’d love to see this feature.

Hi, the procedure you provided is helpful. I still need a bit more detail since I am new to installing PDFCreator on Windows 2003 virtual server (VMware).

Install:  I doubleclicked on the PDFCreator-1.2_-_Setup.exe.  Selected the install for server.

  • I see the PDFCreator in "Printers and Fax" folder.  I am able open 'Preferences'.  When I click on "Test Page"  I see the Options button.  How to do you do the following, according to your instructions?  "Printer"/"Options" (or Ctrl-O)

  • When I click on the Options button on the Test Page window, I finally figured out how  to save the profile:  clicking the Save to disk icon not the Save button.  What extension should I pick?  I assume this is similar to this step:  "Click on the button Add Profile. A small window invites you to write a new profile name. I used the name TIFFprofile."  Since I am on a virtual server and sharing with other applications, I want the profiles accessible only to the my application so setting the values in the registry is not preferred.
  •  Step 10:  Now you must define a new printer Instance. From the main PDFcreator window use the Printer menu to access the submenu Printers, click it.  How do I get to the PDFcreator window?  I don't see Printer menu to access the submenu Printers from PDFCreator in "Printers and Fax" folder
  • Once I create a printer per profile created, what is the steps so that the application on the server can print .pdf files to different folders depending on the profile?

Thanks in advance for any details you can provide.
